Out of the Darkness

Tranquil Life Counseling Center, LLC will be hosting the second "Paulding County Out of the Darkness Walk" to raise funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention started the Out of the Darkness Walks in 2004 to bring communities together and to raise funds for scientific research, educating the public about mental health and suicide prevention, advocacy for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention and supporting survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide.  The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is  the largest funding source for suicide prevention research.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in Georgia and Paulding County is #11 in the state for reported suicides.  More than four times as many people died by suicide in 2018 than alcohol related motor vehicle accidents.  On average, one person dies by suicide every six hours in Georgia.

We are proud to bring this event to Northwest Georgia to bring courage, connections and resources to those who have had their own personal struggles and families and loved ones of those we have lost.

If you are interested in being a part of this important cause, go to www.afsp.org/paulding to register for the walk  or start your own fundraising team on October 21st, 2023. We will have local resources, food trucks and entertainment with giveaway prizes.
